Honeymoon Tips

You've already been making all the important decisions about your wedding day, and now it's time to decide about your honeymoon.  Planning your honeymoon should be exciting and fun.  We have been married for more than 10 years, and one piece of advice we give every couple is to plan a great honeymoon, even if that requires you to plan a simpler wedding.  Your honeymoon is your first time spent together as a married couple, and you want to build memories for a lifetime in those first few days.

Imagine the perfect vacation for you.  Dream of the perfect island, cruise, or resort for your most special vacation ever. Your honeymoon should give your marriage a perfect start. Your memories will last a lifetime. Picture yourselves lying in a hammock for two, swaying to a soft Caribbean breeze, the sound of the ocean waves relaxing your souls, while you sip a pina colada out of a pineapple.

Cruise Planners can make the planning process stress-free. Our professionals have extensive experience in helping you find the perfect destination, the perfect resort, and best values.

To help you get started here are some basic tips:

Call a Cruise Planner, like us.  We have the best prices with personalized travel care from people who care!

  • Plan Ahead. Make your reservations at least 6 months ahead if possible. This allows you to get early booking discounts, and get the type of room that you want and the best flight times.

  • Budget. Splurge but don't overburden yourself. This is a trip you'll remember the rest of your life. You'll always remember the honeymoon, but you'll forget how much you spent.  All-inclusive resorts and cruises make your budgeting much easier, because these packages include practically everything.

  • Consider a honeymoon registry.  The bride will receive lots of shower gifts for your future life together, but now the men are getting in on the gift-giving fun as well.  Your Best Man can plan a Macho Shower for you, inviting the guests to give a gift of money toward your honeymoon.

  • Consider activities you're interested in ... beach bumming, golf, snorkeling, nightlife, breakfast in bed, bicycling, scuba, exploring ancient ruins, gambling, massages, etc

  • Check your Calendar.  How long do you want to be gone?  If you can only be gone for a few nights, look for something close to home.  If you're planning for one week, try to limit your transportation time.  If you can travel for 10 days or more, the whole world is available for your honeymoon.

  • Food.  Dining is always near the top of the list for vacationers, especially honeymooners.  Make sure you'll be able to have pleasurable dining experiences.  Fabulous dining experiences are included on cruises and all-inclusive resorts, and you'll have the opportunity to dine with other newly married couples, just like you.

  • Surprise or not to Surprise.  Planning a surprise honeymoon is very risky.  Use extreme caution.  Make sure you know it will be a pleasant suprise, or the surprise might be on you.  If you want to surprise her, do the research with us ahead of time to establish the best honeymoon options within your budget.  You may then show her the options you have selected for the honeymoon, amazing her with the research you've put into a perfect honeymoon for her.  She'll be pleased that you gave the same time and attention to the honeymoon plans, that she's been giving to your wedding plans.  Then you'll both have the fun and excitement of looking forward to your great honeymoon destination.

  • Friends and Family are great resources for honeymoon ideas.

  • Photographs. Force yourself to take as many pictures as you can stand. You'll be happy you did.  Don't hesitate to ask other tourists around you to snap a picture of you together against vacation landmarks.  People are always happy to help you out, and they may want you to do the same for them.

  • Plan to relax. Especially on the first day. Unwind. Smell the roses. Enjoy each other. Weddings tend to be stressful. The honeymoon should be stress free.

  • Accommodations. Book the best room that you can afford!  We will put you at the best resort possible within your budget even if we have to put you in a room without an ocean view. The resorts, however, are always telling us about how many clients try to upgrade once they arrive and see the beachfront rooms.

  • Packing. Always put some of her clothes in his bag, and put some of his clothes in her bag, just as a precaution.  Never pack valuables such as jewelry and cameras.  Pack a carry on bag with valuables, prescriptions, suntan lotion, swimwear, travel documents, and sunglasses, just in case you have to wait for your room.
